Taking it to the Streets – A Spotters Guide to Street Furniture

Has anyone else noticed a quiet design revolution taking place on our streets? In our parks, our playgrounds and along our riverbanks?

Over the years, we’ve seen changes in the way that our city planners, private developers and urban landscapers approach the design of public infrastructure features – moving from pure utility to aesthetic considerations - and integration with urban master planning.

Great design, but can it be built?

A somewhat heated conversation often overheard between architects, developers and engineers.

Whilst we are not in the business of developing high-rise apartment buildings, or public infrastructure designed to facilitate the movement of hundreds of people, the concepts of solid design principles and ‘buildability’ are comparable to modern sheetmetal manufacturing.

It’s exciting to see a Government focus and commitment to growth investment in Victoria’s renewable energies sector, with associated benefits for local jobs and industry.

The release of the Andrews’ government Renewable Energy Roadmap in August 2015 provides a centrepiece for further public consultation this year designed to stimulate growth in the sector to 2020.

Sealing the deal
